Learn German Or Swiss German

The german-speaking swiss write standard german, that's true - there is no swiss german official language (but still some literature, e-mails etc. using the dialect). the swiss can also speak standard german very well, but to them it's a foreign language that they have to learn how to use when they start school.. Http://www.swiss-german-online.com many students ask me: "should i learn german or swiss german first?" my answer is: learn german first. german would be more useful. In any case, however, the best way to learn swiss german is probably the way most swiss people learn it: by talking to native speakers, participating in everyday swiss culture and getting a feel for the language that way..

Ama-ask me anything: in this video i answer the question: "should i learn swiss german or high german?" if you live in switzerland you might ask yourself whether to learn swiss german or high german.. It varies so strongly depending on location that it is not easy to really learn swiss german. i grew up speaking both english and swiss german which has great advantages but, i think that high german is a better option to learn. after all swiss german does not really exist in written form.... Best answer: i studied german (german teacher) and she told us that swiss and austrian dialects are different from the spoken in germany even in germany there are dialects like plattdeutsch, etc. i think if you will be stationed only in switzerland then learn it with a german-swiss teacher (i think they are.
