The hardest languages to learn - 04-03-2013, 08:14 pm according to the wesbite twentywords arabic is as hard as chinese, korean and japanese. for example, french is easy and requires 575 to 600 hours (23 or 24 weeks).. The other interesting difference between the two languages is the lack of gender endings in pashto whereas it's all over the place in urdu. i looked like a pashtun when living in pakistan. my frequent failures to apply the correct gender endings in urdu was attributed to my assumed pashto language background.. The pashto language is an indo-european language stemming through the iranian branch of the language family. it is also known as afghani. historically, the pashto language is associated with the indigenous people who live in the hindu kush mountains in afghanistan..

Pashto belongs to the indo-european family, iranian branch of the indo-iranic group. western pashto is the official language of afghanistan, spoken by over 8 million people who are called "pahtoon" in the north and "pashtoon" in the south.. Add that to the fact that chinese is a language rich in homophones and full of idioms and aphorisms picked up over the course of its long history, and mandarin becomes arguably the most difficult language in the world for an english speaker to learn..
